Swim Mark 2019

Great News!!
Swim Mark is basically an audit of our operating and business systems.
The club gained, what was then known as Swim 21 a couple of years ago and each year you must go through what is termed ‘a health check’, success means you are re-accredited for another year.
Swim 21 recently changed to Swim Mark, and the ASA to Swim England which required, as a minimum, several documents being updated to alter these references. We also had too present several documents in a new format or with current data.
Paula Osborne, our Swim Mark leader, once again took charge of the process and through her hard work and with the support of club colleagues I am pleased to announce that her efforts have allowed us to be successful as we have gained re-accreditation for 2019.
On behalf of the club I would like to thank Paula for her support and hard work.

Redevelopment of the Leisure Centre

The Leisure Centre is to undergo a £1.4M refit over the next few months and as per the announcement in the Gainsborough Standard recently this work ‘started’ on the 4th June.
We have had several meetings with the LC Management who assure us that this initial work is surveying for asbestos and the like and will not affect our access to the pool.
The final schedule of works has yet to be agreed but the indications are that work on the pool area and changing village is planned for August and mainly evenings to minimise direct disruption to us.
Obviously when work does start in other areas there will  be some inconvenience but this will be kept to a minimum.
We  will keep in regular contact with the LC Management and update you as and when necessary.

Jackson wins England Talent Athlete of the Year

George Jackson won England Talent Athlete of the Year Award for Water Polo for his impressive performances in 2016 and 2017.
Jackson is a member of Rotherham Metro Water Polo club. During the last season he helped his club to secure promotion in the National League. At just 14 years old, he impressed with his skills as an outfield player, as well as being Rotherham’s number one goalkeeper.
Jackson said: “It’s amazing to achieve such an award for playing a sport I love. We’ve played at National Age Groups this year which we won, and then U16s Inter-Regionals last month which we came third in. But I got MVP. It’s a team sport and it’s so great to win with your team.”
